Nicole
Office Manager

After living in Baltimore for 25 years, Nicole has returned to her hometown.

 

She has 23 years of experience in the health and wellness industry in a variety of specialties; including massage therapy, aesthetics, oral surgery, periodontics and dental insurance. Nicole’s belief in transparency is paramount to fostering lasting relationships with the patients at Sherman Smiles. She too values being a positive part of our patient’s experience by providing dental treatment plans and estimates.

 

Nicole is crazy about her french bulldogs: Mona and Gus. She spends her free time volunteering for a MD raptor rehabilitation center, being a brand ambassador for a local distillery, and going to see live music. Nicole also enjoys cooking international cuisine and baking confections.

 

Janel
Registered Dental Hygienist and Instructor

Janel earned her Associate’s degree in dental hygiene in 1997 from Allegany College of Maryland. She began working for Dr. Sherman on Saturdays in 2001, and continued until 2014 when she accepted a full-time position at a pediatric dental office. Janel completed her Master’s degree in dental hygiene in 2021 from Massachusetts College of Pharmacology and Health Sciences.

 

She keeps herself busy vacillating between being a hygienist and a part-time dental hygiene instructor to second year dental students at Hagerstown Community College. She recently returned to Sherman Smiles when our long-time hygienist, Mary, retired. Janel has a passion for improving dental health to positively impact the overall well-being of patients, and we are excited to have her back on the team!

 

Janel is a mother of ten, and lives with her partner, four youngest children and a

menagerie of pets. During her free time she enjoys crocheting, crafting, reading and attending special interest festivals.

 

Katlyn
Certified Dental Assistant

Katlyn joined our practice in August of 2024, bringing with her 13 years of experience including endodontics. Katlyn’s motivation to join our practice was inspired by the close knit atmosphere that Sherman Smiles fosters with staff and patients. Her warm and compassionate nature is a strong asset to our practice.

 

Family is a strong value for Katlyn. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, Rob, their nine beautiful children, and with Penelope; the most photogenic puppy ever.
